Buenos días!
Ya casi terminón 2010 y les deseo a tod@s un feliz 2011.
Para los que están en Caracas: Habrá una presentación de mi documental "Comuna en Construcción" el 27 de diciembre 2010 a las 6:30 de la tarde en la canchita de basket, Calle Bolivar, Sector los Robles, Manicomio, La Pastora, Caracas. Invita el Consejo Comunal Son de la Loma. También estaré presente para un debate.

A principios de diciembre participé en Nueva York a una conferencia muy interesante sobre Venezuela. La Embajada venezolana de Nueva York invitó a unos 25 intelectuales y académicos de Venezuela y otros países, que en su trabajo se ocupan de manera crítica y solidaria del proceso de transformación en Venezuela. Durante dos días se discutió a puerta cerrada sobre los éxitos y problemas del proceso. Yo hablé sobre el tema de los Consejos Comunales y las contradicciones entre poder constituyente y poder constituido, base e instituciones. Fue un debate muy intenso e interesante. Está planificado hacer un libro en castellano y en inglés de las presentaciones. Y acordamos seguir con en debate, la próxima vez en Venezuela.

Finalmente ha salido mi último libro "Participación, control obrero y la comuna: movimientos y transformación social, el ejemplo de Venezuela" con la editorial alemana VSA. Ya está a la venta (ver punto 1).

Junto a Immanuel Ness (Brooklyn College) he terminado una compilación de varios autores sobre control obrero (debate, ejemplos históricos y actuales), que será publicado en inglés en abril 2011 por Haymarket Books (EEUU):

El miercoles 15 de diciembre murió el compañero, escritor y traductor Peter O. Chotjewitz a la edad de 76 años. La última vez nos encontramos durante una conferencia literaria de Nanni Balestrino en Berlin. Peter estaba de traductor. Durante la conferencia Peter se fue al baño y me pidió de traducir mientras tanto. Cuando regresó no asumió otra vez la traducción sino me dejó seguir un buen rato. Así era Peter. Adios Peter, te vamos a extrañar.

Dario Azzellini: Constituent Power in Motion: Ten Years of Transformation in Venezuela

One of the main issues in recent years for those desiring profound social transformation – especially in Latin America – has been the question of taking power. Should we to some extent collaborate with State institutions, or should we reject any involvement with them? We can define these general visions respectively, grosso modo, as “top down” (desde arriba) and “bottom up” (desde abajo).
With the rise of Comandante Hugo Chávez Frías to the presidency at the beginning of 1999, there began in Venezuela a process of deep social transformation guided by a broad Left ranging from social democrats, revolutionary nationalists, developmentalists, and socialists, to different currents of the revolutionary Left and various popular movements. This confluence of “top down” and “bottom up” approaches, generally considered incompatible, required all the Left forces to rethink various questions. These include the State, the economy, participation, democracy, and strategies and paths of social transformation.
No theoretical current of the Left had previously visualized the possibility that an authentic revolutionary process could develop in the manner of the Bolivarian process. It began not as a socialist revolution, but as an anti-neoliberal movement that became increasingly radicalized...

From the 11th to the 19th of December 2010, the curatorial platform, le peuple qui manque, in association with the Film department of the Centre Pompidou, proposes a series of encounters entitled "Que faire? What is to be done? art/film/politics".
These encounters offer an overview of the new critical strategies currently emerging within the international artistic field, and principally within contemporary film production, with a focus on the relationship between art and politics. During the Winter years, as Félix Guattari called them, the corollary to the fall of the Berlin wall was presumed to be the fading of twentieth-century utopias. It was seen as the pronouncement of the end of history and the death of avant-gardes. However, twenty years later, the current revival of the links between art and politics must be taken into account.
