L’artista e documentarista Dario Azzellini sostiene che le proteste in Venezuela rappresentano un feroce attacco al progresso sociale del paese ottenuto durante il governo di Hugo Chávez, incoraggiato da politici anti-chavisti che vivono nelle zone dei benestanti.

Prima che Hugo Chávez diventasse presidente del Venezuela nel 1999, i barrios di Caracas, costruiti alla buona sulle colline che circondano la capitale, non comparivano nemmeno sulla mappa della città.

In France there are two cases of recuperated factories occupied by workers during the current crisis. One is the Pilpa Ice Cream Factory, which just started producing organic ice cream and yoghurt as a worker-owned and administered company after a long-lasting struggle. The other is the Fralib Tea Factory. Both were closed by their huge multinational owners to relocate production.

"The purpose of this chapter is to explore practices in the Bolivarian Revolution in Venezuela linked to the idea of a transition to socialism through the construction of communal production and consumption cycles controlled by workers and communities. The envisioned transition combines local self-administrat on and workers’ control of the means of production. The present work concentrates mainly on the experiences of local self-administration.

Desde el final de la guerra fría, las características de los conflictos en el mundo cambiaron. Cada vez los ejércitos de los países más poderosos del planeta, enfrentan los choques internacionales, con soldados extranjeros o comúnmente llamados mercenarios, altamente capacitados en combate y manejo de nuevas tecnologías en sus países de origen.

Specifický charakter toho, co Hugo Chávez nazval bolívarským procesem, spočívá v pochopení společenské transformace jako utvářené ze dvou směrů – „shora“ a „zdola“. Účastníky Bolívarství – neboli Chávismo – jsou jak tradiční organizace, tak nové autonomní skupiny; jak státně centrické, tak protisystémové proudy. Tento proces se proto liší od tradičních leninských nebo sociálně demokratických přístupů, které vnímají stát jako ústřední hybnou sílu změny. Odlišuje se také od přístupů postavených na masových hnutích, pro něž při revoluční proměně nehraje stát vůbec žádnou roli.

Colin Crouch befindet in seiner These der Postdemokratie, dass Politik von Expert_innen und Wirtschaftseliten gemacht wird und Bürger_innen zur passiven Teilhabe degradiert sind. Dario Azzellini, Assistent am Institut für Soziologie der JKU, befindet dass es den Zustand einer partizipativen Demokratie so nie gegeben hat, sondern dass  liberale
Demokratien gerade auf Elitenpolitik angelegt sind. Den Begriff politische Öffentlichkeit versucht er an der Privatisierung öffentlichen Raums zu konkretisieren.

GEO: Dario, your co-edited book, Ours to Master and To Own, Workers Control from the Commune to the Present, presents a rich variety of worker control initiatives. These have taken place not only in Europe, but in Algeria, Argentina, Brazil, Canada, India, Indonesia, the USA, Venezuela, Yugoslavia, and other countries. Can you clarify for us what these examples have in common, and what you see as their importance?

Der Tod des venezolanischen Präsidenten Hugo Chávez am 5. März diesen Jahres warf international die Frage nach der Zukunft des venezolanischen Transformationsprozesses auf. Die Frage betrifft nicht nur Venezuela, sondern ganz Lateinamerika und die Karibik und wirkt auch darüber hinaus. Der kontinentale Integrationsprozess der vergangenen Jahre in Lateinamerika geht vor allem auf das Agieren von Venezuela und Hugo Chávez zurück. Auf seine Initiative hin bildete sich die Front zur Ablehnung der US-Initiative des gesamtamerikanischen Freihandelsabkommens Alca.
