Dario Azzellini and Marina Sitrin with facilitate a discussion on the question of autonomy and the State, looking at the contemporary social movements and uprisings around the world, from Occupy!, Democracia Real Ya! in Spain and the movements in Greece, among others, and then grounding much of this conversations in the questions and dilemmas raised by the movements for autogestion (self administration/government) in Venezuela and Argentina.

Dario Azzellini is a writer, film maker, political scientist and lecturer at Johannes Kepler University in Linz, Austria. He splits his time between Berlin and Caracas. His latest documentary, Comuna Under Construction (2010) examines worker councils in Venezuela, and latest book, with Immanuel Ness, is Ours to Master and to Own: Worker's Control from the Commune to the Present. Marina Sitrin is a postdoctoral fellow with the Committee on Globalization and Social Change at the CUNY Graduate Center, as well as the editor of Horizontalism: Voices of Popular Power in Argentina, and the forthcoming Everyday Revolutions: Horizontalism and Autonomy in Argentina.
